Visitor and hour changes

For the safety of everyone involved, Adirondack Health has implemented some temporary changes in visitor policy and hours for its outpatient pharmacy.

For the safety of everyone involved, Adirondack Health is restricting visitors to Mercy Living Center and Adirondack Medical Center.

Medical Fitness Center

The Adirondack Health Medical Fitness Center is reopening as of Monday, Aug. 31.

Mercy Living Center

* NOTE: Beginning Friday, Aug. 21, we are temporarily suspending face-to-face visits with residents. Click here to learn more. *

Our nursing home in Tupper Lake recently opened to visitors on a limited basis.

Visits will be available between 2 and 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. Appointments should be made via the unit secretary. There will be no visits on weekends or holidays.

Visits will be 30 minutes long. We ask that visitors please be prompt so as not to inconvenience others with scheduled appointments.

Visits will be primarily outdoors at the front of the building. In case of inclement weather, including heat and humidity, indoor visits will take place in the Happy Days Café area.

Two visitors at a time are allowed per resident. Children under 18 yrs of age are allowed if accompanied with a person 18 yrs of age or older and only if well-behaved.

All visitors must submit to a health screening and temperature check,  wear a face mask and using hand cleanser before and after the visit. In order to conserve PPE, we ask that you wear your own mask as much as possible, though we will have masks available as needed. Visitors must maintain social distancing of at least 6 feet between you and the resident.

A facility cannot open to limited visitation if they have had a positive COVID-19 case within the last 28 days. Visitation will cease if a COVID-19 positive case is identified.

Adirondack Medical Center

Effective Thursday, Nov. 12, most patient visitation is suspended in hospital and acute care settings. This is due to the recent uptick in COVID-19 cases across the region.

Exceptions will continue to be made for one support person in certain instances, namely:

  • Labor and delivery
  • Pediatric patients
  • Person deemed essential in the care and treatment of the patient (i.e. caregiver to a member of the developmentally disabled population)
  • End-of-life situations deemed compassionate care at the discretion of the medical team
  • Family care conferences deemed necessary by the provider to facilitate significant care decisions
  • Emergency room patients
  • Ambulatory surgery patients upon discharge, if deemed necessary for the ongoing care and support of the patient

In all such cases, visitors will be provided – and required to wear – appropriate personal protective equipment and adhere to all Adirondack Health visitor requirements. All visitors must be at least 18 years old, with rare exceptions handled on a case-by-case basis by the hospital and medical team.

Pharmacy hours back

Our outpatient pharmacy is open 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.
