Visitor and hour changes

For the safety of everyone involved, Adirondack Health has implemented some temporary changes in visitor policy and hours for its outpatient pharmacy.

For the safety of everyone involved, Adirondack Health is restricting visitors to Mercy Living Center and Adirondack Medical Center.

Adirondack Medical Center

Adirondack Health recently expanded patient visitation at Adirondack Medical Center, in keeping with state health department guidance issued June 7, 2021.

All adult patients may have one unique designated support person remain with them at all times per admission. Pediatric patients may have two designated support persons remain with them at all times (who may rotate). Visitors may not be present during procedures or in the recovery room except for pediatrics, childbirth, and/or patients with intellectual, developmental, or other cognitive disabilities.

Visits by those other than designated support persons are limited to no more than four hours per day per patient, unless otherwise authorized by the hospital, depending on the patient’s status and condition. All visitors must remain in their respective patients' rooms for the duration of their visits.

Inpatient visitation hours are 9:30 a.m. - 11:30a.m. and 4:30 p.m. - 6:30 p.m., with a maximum of one visitor at a time during a patient’s stay in the hospital.

For a patient just out of surgery and settled back into their room, a 15-minute “check-in visit” will be permitted, if outside the regular visiting hours listed above.

Exceptions will be made for maternity care partners, imminent end-of-life situations, pediatric patients (patients under 18 years of age), and patients with intellectual or developmental disabilities requiring care by staff or a loved one.

Care partners are permitted to accompany patients to joint replacement and/or bariatric educational classes in the Redfield Boardroom, and to outpatient visits on a case-by-case basis.

Patients undergoing same-day procedures may be accompanied to the facility by a companion. This companion may remain with the patient through the initial intake process and rejoin the patient for the discharge process. This companion may wait in the properly spaced waiting area until the patient is discharged, if necessary.

Labor and Delivery patients are allowed to have two support persons - including a doula, if requested - throughout labor, delivery and the postpartum period. The support persons can be anyone of the patient’s choosing.

All visitors must undergo COVID-19 health screenings and temperature checks at the AMC lobby entrance, and also provide their names, contact information, date(s) of their visit(s), and names of the patients they are visiting, in accordance with state health department requirements. All visitors will be provided, and must wear at all times, appropriate personal protective equipment, as recommended by the state health department and the federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
