This year’s Adirondack Health Foundation gala pays tribute to the health system’s recently retired chief nursing officer, Linda McClarigan.

McClarigan, who will serve as Adirondack Health’s chief patient experience officer on a part-time basis through the end of the year, will be presented with the Dr. Edward L. Trudeau Award on Saturday, July 6 at the Lake Placid Conference Center. An avid and accomplished gardener outside the hospital, the event features a “garden party” theme.

As Adirondack Health’s chief nursing officer, McClarigan oversaw all aspects of patient care services across the organization. She and Dave Mader, Adirondack Health’s current chief nursing officer, presented at several national nursing conferences on the importance of staff engagement and shared decision-making in healthcare settings. McClarigan also led Adirondack Health’s successful three-year application process to achieve Pathway to Excellence designation, which recognizes (and verifies) a healthcare organization’s commitment to creating a positive work environment that empowers and engages nursing staff.

The Dr. Edward L. Trudeau Award honors those who demonstrate the qualities of courage, compassion and generosity in their service to Adirondack Health, building on his legacy of healing begun more than 100 years ago.
