If you'd like to visit a patient staying at Adirondack Medical Center - Saranac Lake, we offer a variety resources for your convenience.

Hours and policies

Visiting hours are 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily. Check our COVID-19 pages for any temporary updates to our visitor policy due to the pandemic.

After visiting hours and on weekends, AMC is secured. For access, please check in with registration or with the emergency department receptionist.


AMC offers a wide range of on-site amenities for patients, families and visitors.


Free local telephone service is available for patients. Your telephone is located at your bedside. A TDD (telecommunication device for the hearing impaired) is also available and is available upon request. To make a local call, dial "9" and then the number. Long distance calls must be charged to a calling card or called collect.To make a long distance call or collect call, dial "O" for the hospital's operator.


The cafeteria at Adirondack Medical Center features daily lunch and dinner specials, along with a salad bar and other meal and beverage choices. Lunch is served from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and dinner from 4:30 to 6:15 p.m. Sandwiches and assorted beverages are offered in the AMC Gift Shop near the Main Lobby. Both the cafeteria and Gift Shop sell breakfast items a-la-carte.


Each patient can enjoy a bedside color television at no charge. You can also turn to Channel 19, which is the Patient Information Channel.

Patient meals may depend on the dietary plan and individual needs. Kosher, vegetarian or other special meals are available; please tell your nurse. If you would like fruit juice or other refreshments between meals, press your call button and ask. If you are on a special diet, a registered dietician will visit you to discuss your diet. If you have any questions about diet, the dietitians on staff are available while you are in the hospital or after you leave.

Breakfast is served from 7:15 to 7:30 a.m.; Lunch is served from noon to 12:30 p.m. and dinner from 5 to 5:30 p.m.


Patients are welcome to access our free public wireless network. Patients can bring their own laptop, or if needed one can be provided. Please ask the nursing staff about availability.

Mail & Flowers

Mail and flowers are delivered by Adirondack Health volunteers daily. Flowers for purchase are available in the hospital's Gift Shop, located in the Redfield Medical Office Building, next to the main lobby. Scotts Florist of Saranac Lake provides bouquets, which are delivered to patient rooms by volunteer staff.

Newspapers & Magazines

A variety of publications are available in the Gift Shop. Local newspapers are available in vending machines at the entrance of the Main Lobby.

Notary Public

Notary publics are available Monday-Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Call the Foundation Office at ext. 2320 for a list of notary publics.


An ATM is located in the main lobby. Cards honored include NYCE, Plus Honor, VISA, MasterCard.


The pharmacy is located on the first floor of the Redfield Medical Office Building. Hours are 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Gift Shop

Staffed by our friendly volunteers, the Gift Shop is located in the Redfield Medical Office Building next to the main lobby. It offers a wide selection of gift items, flowers, newspapers, magazines, candy, stamps and toiletries. The snack bar sells Green Mountain Roasters Coffee and a selection of Danish, bagels, muffins, juice and soft drinks.

The Gift Shop provides room service. To order, dial ext. 2398. A volunteer will take your order, deliver your item and then collect payment. Please remember that patients on restricted diets should consult their doctor, dietitian or nurse before purchasing food items.
