SARANAC LAKE – The Adirondack Health Foundation is proud to announce the recipients of its 2026 Healthcare Scholarships, awarding three $3,500 scholarships to exceptional students who are pursuing careers in healthcare and demonstrate a commitment to serving their communities.
This year's recipients are:
Juliana Tremblay was the Valedictorian of the Keene Central School Class of 2026 and will attend Nazareth University this fall to pursue a degree in Nursing, where she has also been recruited to play NCAA Division III lacrosse. She graduated with an Advanced Regents Diploma with Honors and Distinction in Math and Science.
While enrolled in the New Visions Medical Program, Juliana completed clinical rotations at Elizabethtown Community Hospital while working as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) at Elderwood of Uihlein in Lake Placid. A dedicated student, athlete, and community volunteer, she served as class president, captained three varsity sports, and volunteered at numerous community events throughout the Adirondacks.
"I've always known I wanted a career in healthcare because I enjoy caring for others and making a difference in people's lives. Nursing gives me the opportunity to combine compassion, leadership, and lifelong learning while serving patients and strengthening the communities I care about."
Alyssa Fleuryis a graduate of Colton-Pierrepont Central School and participated in the New Visions Program at BOCES. She plans to pursue a career as a nurse practitioner specializing in emergency medicine, combining her passion for patient-centered care with the fast-paced environment of the emergency department.
A three-sport athlete, student leader, and National Honor Society secretary, Alyssa excelled academically while giving back to her community. She volunteers through the Big Brothers Big Sisters program, coaches youth soccer, and helped raise $3,000 for hospice through her school's National Honor Society Snowshoe-a-thon.
"I want to become a nurse practitioner because nursing is about caring for the whole person, not just treating a disease. My goal is to provide compassionate, high-quality care in the emergency room while giving back to the communities that have supported me."
Kyler McClain is pursuing a Nursing degree at SUNY Canton, where he earned Dean's List honors during the Spring 2026 semester. Inspired by both of his parents, who serve as nurses at Adirondack Health, Kyler plans to become a registered nurse specializing in critical care and hopes to return to the Tri-Lakes region to care for the community he calls home.
"Healthcare is about being there for people during some of the most difficult moments of their lives. Watching my parents care for patients inspired me to pursue nursing, and I hope to one day provide that same compassion and dedication to others in our community."
The scholarship recipients were recognized during an awards reception held on July21 at the Adirondack Health Foundation offices in Saranac Lake. Students and their families were welcomed by members of the Scholarship Committee and Foundation staff in celebration of their academic achievements and commitment to healthcare.
During the reception, Mary Ann Randall, RN, a Foundation Board member and Scholarship Committee member, shared her inspiring career journey with the students. After beginning her professional life in finance, Randall pursued a nursing decision she described as "the best decision I ever made." She encouraged the recipients to embrace the many opportunities the profession offers, from bedside care and leadership to education and international service. Drawing on her own experiences providing nursing care overseas, she reminded students that a career in nursing can open doors around the world while making a meaningful difference close to home.
Since the program's inception in 2011, the Adirondack Health Foundation has awarded more than $164,000 in scholarships to students pursuing nursing and allied health careers. The scholarship program is open to Adirondack Health employees, their children, retirees, and members of the communities served by Adirondack Health who are committed to advancing their education in healthcare.
"One of the greatest investments we can make is in the next generation of healthcare professionals," said Jen Balog, Executive Director of the Adirondack Health Foundation. "Juliana, Alyssa, and Kyler have already demonstrated exceptional leadership, compassion, and dedication to serving others. We are honored to support their educational journeys and look forward to the positive impact they will have on the future of healthcare in the Adirondack region and beyond."
Applications for the 2027 scholarship cycle will open in early spring, with a deadline of mid-June.
