Student Nurse Externship Program (SNEP)

Student Nurse Externship Program (SNEP) is now available at Adirondack Medical Center

The Nurse Extern is a new role within the nursing team at AMC. Externs will work alongside registered nurse preceptors to deliver patient care.

Benefits of the SNEP:

  • Receive enhanced clinical hours while providing patient care
  • Follow the RN preceptor’s full patient assignment and unit workflow
  • Improve clinical skills and time management
  • Improve communication and critical thinking skills
  • Work collaboratively with the healthcare team
  • Have first priority to be hired in the GN/RN position
  • Sign-on bonus of $3000 in addition to other incentives upon hire into an RN position

Program Length:

  • There are two sessions to choose from in June and July (four weeks each)
  • Shifts are 4, 8, or 12 hours. Minimum 12 hours per week

Eligibility:

  • Enrolled in a traditional 4 year baccalaureate nursing program (upcoming seniors only)
  • Enrolled in a two-year nursing program (upcoming second year only)
  • Final semester transcript GPA 3.0 or higher
  • Letter of recommendation from member of school’s nursing department
